Dallas Cowboy QB Drew Bledsoe is a Hall of Famer

See ya, Bledsoe, in Canton

Drew Bledsoe is a Hall of Famer.

You might not think so, but, by the standards defined by the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters Saturday, the Cowboys quarterback has to be enshrined in Canton eventually.

As soon as former Oiler Warren Moon was elected (on the first ballot, nonetheless), it opened the door for all big numbers quarterbacks, whether or not they have won anything. Including Bledsoe.

Vinny Testaverde, too, for that matter.

What did Moon do besides amass oodles and oodles of stats? Big yards. Big touchdowns. Big deal.

I mean Trent Dilfer has more conference title game wins and Super Bowl rings than Moon and his predecessor in the all-hat-and-no-cattle club, Dan Fouts, combined.

Can anybody even say that Moon was the best player at his position during his prime or was he simply in a system that led to fattened numbers?
I'll take the latter for $200, Alex.

So, why not Bledsoe?

He has big-time numbers as well as a pair of conference title game wins, two Super Bowl appearances and a ring.

Go ahead, argue that Tom Brady gave him his ring, but Bledsoe got them to that game with his play in the AFC title game.

What did Moon ever win? Or Houston for that matter?

And by inviting Moon, Bledsoe is ensured his day.

Is he a Hall of Famer? Who knows. But by the standards used for Moon, he is.

So, Drew, we'll see you in Canton.
