Insider Analysis
Grade 64
Expert's Take Boiman has adequate size for the position and he has the versatility to line up and play either of the three linebacker spots on this defense. He has very good foot quickness and he has good running ability. He has good lateral movement and he is a good athlete with overall good movement skills. He can flip his hips and turn and run with very little wasted motion and he gets good depth in his zone drops. He shows good awareness in coverage and he has very good ball skills. He has excellent range and he will make plays outside the numbers. He shows that he has the ability to chase plays down and he is a good strong tackler who goes aggressively to the ball. He has the speed to run with most backs and tight ends in the short to intermediate area but he lacks the elite speed to match up in man to man coverage all over the field. He does a poor job with play recognition and he lacks the upper body strength to be effective in the box. He tends to let offensive blockers into his body and he has poor use of his hands in dis engaging from blockers. He plays high and he gets himself into poor position at times because he is forced to take poor angles to the ball. He has good change of direction skills however he needs to work on his technique in coverage as he tends to turn his back on the quarterback too often. Overall his agility and speed are satisfactory as a back up and he does an excellent job on special teams but he needs to get bigger and stronger and become more consistent in taking on blockers in the box.
