NFL owners have approved a six-year extension to the collective bargaining agreement

The NFL owners have approved a six-year extension to the collective bargaining agreement.

There will be a delay of free agency for either 24 or 48 hours. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the vote was 30-2, with Buffalo and Cincinnati dissenting. Both are lower revenue teams. The salary cap is $102 million.

The salary cap will be set at $102 million for 2006 and $109 million for 2007.
The increase is below some estimates, but still marks a $7.5 million increase. It will allow teams like the Colts a better chance to re-sign or retain their own players.
