Pencil in the Cowboys for another 9-7 season. Even with Terrell Owens, they're not any better than that, mainly because their offensive line isn't better than last year's pedestrian unit.
They'll lose the opener at Jacksonville, then reel off five-straight victories. But a midseason stretch that includes three-straight road games (Carolina, Washington and Arizona) will be their undoing, with losses coming against the Panthers and the Redskins.
And it doesn't get easier. After bouncing back at Arizona, they entertain Indianapolis and Tampa Bay in a two-games-in-five-days stretch that ends on Thanksgiving Day. Then they start December against the Giants in the Meadowlands. It's the only cold-weather game of the month and probably will determine whether the Cowboys make the playoffs or end the Bill Parcells era with another falling-short season.
Unless something's done to improve the offensive line, count on the latter.
