Cowboys stuff and NFC East Stuff

ESPN Chat - Dan Arkush from PFW

Scott (Dallas, TX): How bout them Cowboys!!?!!? Do the Boys take the NFC East this season? Is there any hope of Bledsoe and Owens developing good chemistry?

Dan Arkush: (4:57 PM ET ) Right now they're my pick to win the NFC East, but after having to struggle to win the league's toughest division, I could very easily see them imploding in the playoffs. As was the case with the Eagles, I think T.O. will be great for one year. After that, though, look for the same old shenanigans.

Brian (Philly): Do you think the Eagles will finish better than 9-7. I just can't see them worse than that.

Dan Arkush: (4:15 PM ET ) The problem with Philly, Brian, is that they are stuck in the toughest division in the NFL. I do believe, though, that they will bounce back from an off year and be right in the thick of things. They had a great draft, and I like the fact they are supposedly planning on using Brian Westbrook more than they have in the pst.

Ian (Washington, D.C): When you look at the Redskins, it really does appear that they are stacked at every position, save the most important one -- quarterback. If, as many believe, Mark Brunell cannot make it through the entire season, what are the chances that the Skins can be successful with Jason Campbell or even Todd Collins at the helm?

Dan Arkush: (4:53 PM ET ) I think they'll have a problem if that happens. Campbell has been kept under wraps and is a totally unproven commodity. As good a coordinator as Al Saunders is, the Skins absolutely need Brunell to play at a high level again this season.

Tim (NYC): Do you think Plaxico Buress will ever live up to the type of player many think he has the potential to be?

Dan Arkush: (4:55 PM ET ) I'll be honest with you, Tim. I'm not a big Plaxico fan. Never have been. I remember him the year he came out at the Combine, and had a feeling that he would prove to be difficult at the pro level. I think his attitude is a liabiility.

Henry (NY): Most analysts have either the Redskins or the Cowboys winning the NFC East. What do the Giants need to do to win the division again this year?

Dan Arkush: (5:01 PM ET ) They need Eli manning to be consistent from beginning to end on offense, and they need Lavar Arrington to come through big-time and for the secondary to dramatically improve on defense.
