ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- You can call Charlie Adams a few things.
Call him a solid receiver, as he developed into the Broncos' No. 3 option at the position last year, although his season there left him aching for more.
"I think I did well but there's a lot of plays out there I could have made that I didn't make," he said. 'That can be said about a lot of people; that could be said about everyone, really. I think I did okay. There's definitely a lot of room for improvement, which I can work on this offseason.
"I think I did okay last year, but nowhere close to where I want to be."
Call him experienced, as he heads into his fifth training camp with the Broncos, which has allowed him to see many a player come and go -- even on one of the more stable rosters in the NFL, evidenced by the fact that 10 of the Broncos' 22 starters in the AFC Championship Game
"You really can see how the business is in the game, as well as the turnover rate," Adams said. "Sometimes, you'll just sit back and talk about all the people that have been here over the years; it's just crazy."
But there are others who've seen more.
"I think about all the faces I've seen, and then I think about Rod, and all the people he's seen come in and out of the locker room," Adams said. "There's a lot of people coming through these doors, but luckily I've stuck around for a while."
But don't call him an elder statesman, even though Ashley Lelie's absence from organized team activites meant that only Smith had more experience as a Broncos wide receiver than the former Hofstra standout.
"I'm not that old yet," Adams said.
He's not, but he knows that his time to make an NFL impression has to be now, coming off a season in which he saw more regular-season playing time than in the previous three years combined.
"I know what I expect of myself and if I do the things that I know I can do -- and the things that I expect of myself -- I know that will please the coaches," Adams said. "As long as I keep striving towards that, I'll be fine."
