Henson: Today is a good day in my mind

from Jennifer Floyd Engel blog:

I just hung up from talking to former Cowboys quarterback Drew Henson to get his take on what amounts to being left for dead by coach Bill Parcells.

He is waiting to hear from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on a trade, or if he's going to be waived. And while this seems like bad news, Henson has a different take.

"Today is a good day in my mind," Henson told me. "I have a lot to offer teams. I'm healthy and 26 and more motivated than I've ever been."

Nothing is more motivating than having your coach tell the world during his daily press briefing that you can not play. Henson had that happen to him Wednesday. But Big Bill was not saying anything Henson did not already know. Parcells had made it plenty clear to him through practice time, playing time and basically ignoring him that he did not think he was NFL caliber.

I happen to think Parcells is wrong. But what do I know about quarterbacks? What I do know for sure is this was a great day for Henson because he finally gets to start fresh elsewhere.
