TIDBIT: 10 fearless predictions for the 2006 season

There are 147 days until Super Bowl XLI in Miami. Here are 10 things that will happen between now and then:
1. Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick, the best of buddies now, will spend a week together on South Beach eating stone crabs before they meet in the Tuna Bowl Invitational on Feb. 4.

The Parcells-Belichick showdown will set a Super Bowl record for compelling storylines. The only reason Parcells didn't create a huge mess when Jerry Jones signed Terrell Owens is he likely knows that this is his final year coaching. Parcells can handle anybody for one season, especially if he can get him to the Super Bowl. Despite all the changes, the Patriots are back to being the AFC's best team. Tom Brady will have an MVP season. Final score: Cowboys 27, Patriots 24.

2. The Giants will finish 10-6, make the playoffs as a wild-card team and lose to the Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game.

When commissioner Roger Goodell was out at Giants camp on Wednesday, the team should have complained about the toughest schedule in the league. They must get to their fourth-week bye no worse than 2-1 after opening at home against the Colts and then playing at Philly and Seattle. The Giants play four of their first six on the road.

6. Parcells gives in to T.O. and lets him play defense so he can rush the quarterback Oct. 8 in Philadelphia. Owens tells Donovan McNabb to bring his popcorn.

It will be showtime at the Linc when T.O. comes back to town. This will be the scene of the first of many T.O.-Tuna blowups. Eagles fans are not expected to give T.O. a warm reception. For nostalgia purposes, Owens will do situps on the sidelines.
