He is laughing at their poll as to whether or not he would be a good HC pick......said he flew in on Jerry's private jet yesterday, turned on the radio in a car and this was the first thing he heard.
Phillips 34 defense.......what is the difference....... a lot of technical differences. Much more aggressive defense. Different responsibilities. Get as much as you can out of the player's abilities.
SD players are distraught at your departure........I had a special bond with those guys and others I have coached. When you work this closely with them, this happens.
Garrett's presence here already........Everyone knows he is going to be an outstanding coach. He was one of those players that had to learn everything and do it better. This team averaged 27 pts a game last year! We get that back and play better D....we should be able to show improvement.
Working on the staff. Want a strong staff. Get that together, put together the Xs and Os. Teach the staff and then translate it to the players. A lot of coaches want to come here.
Wearing boots.......they don't wear them much in Calif......fashion boots yes, Cowboy boots......NO.
TO......you said his name! You do want him here next year? There are things to be determined........his contract and his bonus......he is a Cowboy and he is one of my players right now.
I think I can work with him. I will be myself. I will be the coach and they will be players. We will be a family...there is trust in that relationship. I have never had trouble with players in the past.
Offense......turning it over or influencing it? Scheme and technical part not as much. Things we do and what we do not do .....yes, strategy and what we will do in certain situations I will be involved in, yes. They had a scheme in place........that will be mostly theirs....the coordinators.
Working with Ware and the rest of the kids.......I like them all. A lot of talent. You can do more things with guys that have talent. Great thing about having them. Looking forward to it.
Jerry's rep.......hands on, etc. do you think you can work with him.......I can work well with all people. I would not be here if I did not think I could not work with him. I would not have come somewheres where I do not feel comfortable.
Improvement in personnel.........offensive or defensive side? A lot of young guys on both sides. I will start the process of looking at everyone of them. I need to get an idea of what they are doing well. I don't have all the answers right now, but I will in short order.
Coach of the Cowboys....feed good?...........it is starting to sink in. I am getting a million phone calls. I am still excited. I will need a whole section of tickets for my family.
Talking to players.......are you going to start talking to them in the next few days? Romo? Have not had the chance to talk to him yet. We will get an extra mini camp or two with new staff. I want to talk to all of them, not only Tony.

So much talent on this defense......why did we fall apart in December? When he came to SD.........4-12, Brees threw for 3,000, LT ran for 1400, but defense gave up a record number of TDs. We changed that. I want to be in a place where there are high expectations.
Will be allowed to talk to assistant coaches? We will develop a polilcy on that.
You have talked to local radio people, and you have said TOs name in full.........you are off to a great start.
