DMN Blog: McMahon: Stanback has ink of a warrior
Fourth-round pick Isaiah Stanback has by far the most impressive tattoo in the Cowboys' locker room.
Stanback got the Polynesian tribal design inked on his chest that covers almost as much space as a pair of shoulder pads. He said he got the tat, which cost about $350, a few months ago.
"Polynesians are warriors," said Stanback, who had several Polynesian teammates at Washington. "It's the warrior mentality -- all the things I battled in the past and will continue to battle."
Stanback, whose college QB career was derailed by the Huskies' head coaching carousel, is still recovering from foot surgery. He works out on the side while his teammates practice, a painful experience for a guy making the transition to receiver.
But Stanback said he had a breakthrough this week, running and cutting full-speed for the first time since hurting his foot. He won't participate in full team activities until training camp, but he hopes to get in some individual drills during next week's minicamp.
Stanback is excited about playing receiver and said he's willing to do anything Wade Phillips and Co. ask. But if Stanback had a say, he'd be a Slash type that would play QB for specific plays.
