DMN Blog: And the player cut is...
In order to sign Tank Johnson, the Cowboys had to make room for him on the active roster for one day before he would be put on the suspended list. That player was cornerback Nate Jones.
Jones played the first two games as a backup cornerback, but his release could mean the Cowboys plan on having Terence Newman back this week against Chicago. If Jones clears through waivers he could be brought back to the active roster.
Should Jones get claimed and Newman not play vs. the Bears, then Evan Oglesby would be the fourth cornerback, although Alan Ball and Quincy Butler are on the team's practice squad.
