Peter King: Three Super Bowl contenders weakened by injuries
TIDBIT: 3. Dallas. Write this down: You don't get better from a plantar fascia injury by playing football, or by hurrying it. And Terence Newman, who is probably Dallas' most important defensive player (you saw that with the way the Giants torched a weak Cowboy secondary on Sunday night), had to sit against New York because he couldn't get enough flexibility in his ailing foot and heel.
"Teams are going to see ways they can try to hit us,'' said cornerback Anthony Henry, who got torched by a long Plaxico Burress touchdown catch.
No kidding. It won't help that defensive tackle Jason Ferguson (torn biceps) is out for the year at a thin position, and linebacker Greg Ellis is out too. That's a defense in trouble, and it can't rely on Tony Romo putting up 45 points every week.
One point of clarification: I've been saying, erroneously, that Eli Manning will have his bruised right shoulder examined by Dr. James Andrews today. Not true. He will likely have his Monday test results examined by Andrews, but won't be personally examined by him.
