DMN Blog: Light's out?

Patriots LT Matt Light was listed on the injury report today as questionable, and didn't practice after coming down with the flu. And he missed his weekly appearance on the Mike Felger Show's "Patriots Friday" on ESPN Radio Boston, to boot.

Significant? Well, if a guy's status is truly up in the air -- and being on the Patriots injury report is no assurance of that -- he is usually put behind lock and key, which seems to be the case here.

And the relevance here is only heightened by the fact that Light was likely to be the one assigned to DeMarcus Ware most in pass protection on Sunday. It says here that the best chance to slow the Patriots offense comes by A) controlling the ball and clock offensively and B) getting after Tom Brady.

Losing Light would mean starting RT Nick Kaczur sliding left, and backup Ryan O'Callaghan stepping into Kaczur's spot. With the Cowboys strong off the edges, bringing Ware, Anthony Spencer and Greg Ellis, that scenario would push things in Dallas' favor.
