Mark Craig, on the NFL: Sometimes luck makes QB a winner
Tony Romo has potential, but let's wait a while before we put him into the Hall of Fame.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was this close to being a big-time goat after fumbling once and throwing five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, on Monday night in Buffalo.
But, hey, Dallas won 25-24 on a last-second, 53-yard field goal by Nick Folk, so Romo survived virtually unscathed. Talk about Just Win Baby.
In fact, the NFL, in its weekly media release, quoted Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman on the future of Romo, who makes his 16th NFL start this afternoon when the Cowboys (5-0) play host to the Patriots (5-0).
"He's going to be as good a quarterback as the Cowboys have ever had," said Staubach, who won two Super Bowls and played in four while in Big D. "He's going to be a championship quarterback in this league."
Then there was this from Aikman, who won three Super Bowls for Dallas.
"He's a tremendous talent," Aikman said. "I think he's going to be successful in the NFL for a long time."
Yes, it's good to win. Had the Bills not botched their 6-1 turnover advantage, Staubach might have had to wait a week or two before predicting that Romo will reach a championship- caliber, Hall of Fame level of play.
Romo is 11-4 with a .634 completion percentage, 4,149 yards, 29 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in his first 15 starts.
Hard to believe
I can't believe today's Cowboys-Patriots game is only the fifth meeting between teams with 5-0 records or better in NFL history. And two of those games were pre-1924, when the Canton Bulldogs (5-0) visited the Chicago Cardinals (5-0) on Nov. 4, 1923, and the Akron Pros (7-0) visited the Buffalo All-Americans (6-0) on Nov. 13, 1921.
The last time it happened was Oct. 24, 2004, when the Jets (5-0) and the Patriots (5-0) met. The Patriots won 13-7. The only other time it happened was Oct. 28, 1973 in Minnesota. The 6-0 Rams lost to the 6-0 Vikings 10-9. The Vikings intercepted two John Hadl passes, had a key sack and blocked a field goal attempt.
