DMN Blog: Tuna won't take any credit

DMN-ex Gary Myers of the New York Daily News wrote a column about Tiki Barber and Bill Parcells, the former faces of the franchises that will meet Sunday with first place in the NFC East on the line. The Tuna made it clear that he doesn't want any credit for the Cowboys' 7-1 start.

"I give the players and coaches credit for what they are doing now," Parcells told the Daily News. "I'm not sure I could have done as well." A bit of humility from Parcells? "Just give them the credit," he said. "They deserve it. I don't want any credit for what is going on. I don't deserve it. I did what I could do. I'm glad things have worked out. If (Tony) Romo wasn't playing good, it wouldn't be working out."

You have to give Parcells props for building this team. There are only five pre-Parcells players on the roster (OLB Greg Ellis, LT Flozell Adams, C Andre Gurode, SS Roy Williams and DB/special teams stud Keith Davis).
However, the credit goes to Wade Phillips and his staff for maximizing that talent, which they've done by a combination of X's and O's and warm fuzzies. Ask T.O. to elaborate.
