This year Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver, Terrell Owens celebrated his birthday by giving back to 81 needy families in the Dallas community. Proceeds raised will benefit The Terrell Owens Catch A Dream Foundation’s 1st Annual “December to Remember” Holiday Fundraiser.
“I did it when I was in Philadelphia around my birthday,” said Owens, who turns 34 on Friday. “I wanted to help people and I couldn’t do it in my second year in Philly, so I decided to do it this year.”
Guests who walked across the red carpet were asked to bring a teddy bear that would be donated to a children’s hospital.
Owens arrived at the event with actor/singer Jamie Foxx, who is from Terrell and a big Cowboys fan.
Foxx promised to sing for the people who attended the party.
“I’m here to support him and do whatever he wants me to do,” Foxx said as he walked across the red carpet. “He’s a Cowboy, and I’m from Texas, and it’s a good fit.”
When asked what she got her son for his birthday, Owens’ mother, Marilyn Heard, said: “Me and my love.”
Among the Cowboys in attendance were Tony Romo, Jason Witten and DeMarcus Ware.
Romo, who has been linked recently to singer/actress Jessica Simpson, came alone.
“No date for me,” he said. “I’m not going to talk about my personal life tonight.”
Other celebrities on hand included actresses Kenya Moore and Elise Neal, and singer Michelle Williams. Tennis star Serena Williams and former Cowboys receiver and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin also showed up.
Owens, who held his birthday bash in Hollywood last year, enjoyed the scene.
“Dallas is home for me and I wanted to show off some of my celebrity friends,” he said.
