Micks mail. Assante would cost us Hamlin and Flo

Charles Smith, Laredo, Texas: Do the Cowboys have enough salary room to go after Asante Samuel?

Mickey: Oh, they probably could make room for him, but the feeling out there is Samuel will want a deal exceeding that of Nate Clements, who get this, cost San Francisco $12.267 million against the cap just this year with his eight-year, $80 million deal, including $22 million in guarantees. Do you want to break the bank just for him? That would mean the Cowboys likely would be unable to afford two first-round picks or sign any other free agents, which would include not being able to re-sign Ken Hamlin or Flozell Adams, and certainly not extending Terence Newman. High price for one guy, especially when you already have Newman. Not sure how many of you can afford more than one Lexus for the same household.
