According to the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, the Cowboys are looking for an upgrade at back-up quarterback and that the Bucs' Chris Simms is the hot rumor to be traded.

Fort Worth, Tex. -- The Dallas Cowboys are interested in upgrading their backup for quarterback Tony Romo. According the Fort-Worth Star Telegram, Bucs quarterback Chris Simms is rumored to be on the short list for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Simms expressed his desire to be out of Tampa Bay by training camp because his relationship with head coach Jon Gruden cannot be repaired.

Simms played college football at Texas and has reportedly told friends that he would welcome the idea of signing with Dallas.

Former Bucs Super Bowl quarterback Brad Johnson is Romo's backup in Dallas, but at age 40, the Cowboys want someone younger who could play long term if Romo were to get injured.

Simms has not played in a regular season game since having an emergency spleenectomy in September 2006 following an injury against the Carolina Panthers.
