Cowboys sign QB Bollinger
Irving, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys signed former Jets and Vikings quarterback Brooks Bollinger on Monday.
Bollinger came in for a visit with the team last Tuesday and was widely expected to sign, but didn't ink the deal until Monday, a move that keeps the Cowboys from having to guarantee his base salary for the entire season.
A five-year veteran, Bollinger started nine games for the Jets in 2005, the last of his three years in New York. He also started one game last season, a November 11 contest in Green Bay, as a fill-in for injured Minnesota starter Tarvaris Jackson.
In 19 career NFL games, Bollinger has completed 201-of-343 passes for 2,155 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.
To make room for Bollinger on the roster, the Cowboys waived wide receiver Mike Jefferson.
