DMN Blog: Felix Jones returns to the practice field

by Tim MacMahon

The long-awaited return of the Cowboys' home-run hitting rookie is happening as I type. Felix Jones is practicing today for the first time since partially tearing his hamstring in the Oct. 12 loss to the Cardinals.

We'll get more from Wade Phillips this afternoon, but this is obviously a great sign that Jones will play Sunday against San Francisco. That means the Dallas' primary big-play threat would have two games to chip off the rust before the Cowboys really need him during a tough four-game stretch to end the season. Jones' return should also allow the coaches to lighten the load on Marion Barber to make sure the Cowboys' pounder is fresh for the playoff fight.

Oh, and another first-round pick also returned to practice today. LB Bobby Carpenter, who sat out Sunday night with a groin injury, is back out there.

No T.O. (sick) or Miles Austin (knee).
