DMN Blog: Pacman Jones will play in sub packages, return punts
by Tim MacMahon
Adam "Pacman" Jones will basically jump right back into the roles he played before getting booted for six games.
Wade Phillips said he expects Pacman to play in sub (nickel and dime) packages and return punts. Phillips didn't rule out Pacman returning kickoffs, too.
"He's ready to go," Phillips said. "He wants to play. He's attentive. He's at the meetings early. He's asking questions."
Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and secondary coach Dave Campo expressed concerns about Pacman's conditioning after he spent a month in a Boston rehab. But Phillips isn't worried about what kind of shape Pacman is in, even though the Cowboys haven't put him through any kind of conditioning tests since he's returned to Valley Ranch. Phillips noted that a guy Pacman's size doesn't get out of shape easily.
Fifth-round pick Orlando Scandrick's playing time will be reduced significantly with Pacman's return. Scandrick has far exceeded expectations as a slot corner, but he struggled against the Seahawks, who threw for a season-high 287 yards on Thanksgiving.
We'd love to talk to Pacman about his return (among other things), but he's not expected to chat with the media until after he plays a game.
