The Dallas Cowboys' coaching staff and owner Jerry Jones will have serious discussions about whether to release controversial receiver Terrell Owens, team sources told ESPN.
According to ESPN, the Cowboys' highest priority this offseason is to improve locker room chemistry.
A team source told ESPN that Owens' future with the Cowboys hadn't yet been discussed, but that "it will and real hard."
Sources told the sports network that Dallas' vice president Stephen Jones will try to convince his father, Jerry Jones, that Owens' career with the Cowboys should be finished. However, according to ESPN, Owens received a $12 million signing bonus last year, meaning cutting Owens could have a negative effect on the team's salary cap.
Owens caused controversy at the end of this season when he claimed quarterback Tony Romo's friendship with Jason Witten was causing the passer to give the ball to Witten more than Owens. The wide receiver also criticized offensive coordinator Jason Garrett's play-calling and offensive schemes.
Owens finished the season with 69 receptions for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns.
