MOBILE, Ala. – When the Cowboys' season ended, inside linebacker Zach Thomas said he doubted he would return.
But Thomas' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Wednesday his client is open to returning to the Cowboys.
"We're still very early in the process," Rosenhaus said. "He's obviously very open to coming back, and I really haven't had any sense of a discussion yet and we'll see how that works out. He's excited about next year and having another outstanding season."
Thomas finished second on the team in tackles behind linebacker Bradie James.
When the Cowboys lost the regular-season finale against Philadelphia, Thomas said he wouldn't return. The next day, he softened his stance.
T.O. talk: Rosenhaus repeated his stance that wide receiver Terrell Owens isn't going anywhere. ESPN reported the Cowboys were thinking of releasing Owens, but Rosenhaus said on a Florida radio station Owens will not be cut.
"I'm not really interested in expanding on that," Rosenhaus said. "My last comment is, I don't want to add to what I think is a non-story."
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he would not discuss Owens, other than to say he's on the roster.
No discussion: Free agent defensive end Chris Canty hasn't spoken to Cowboys officials regarding a new contract.
Canty's agent, Brad Blank, said he last spoke with the team about a new deal in August.
"It's up to them," Blank said of the Cowboys. "He's not opposed to re-signing with them."
Briefly: Rosenhaus said another of his clients, running back Marion Barber, should be ready to return from a dislocated little toe in time for off-season workouts. ... The Cowboys' coaches left for Dallas on Wednesday. ... Coach Wade Phillips, who watched the morning practice for Saturday's Senior Bowl, declined to speak to reporters.
