Kitna's impact on the team!

The trade for Kitna was a little surprising since we traded away a starting player for a backup QB. The Cowboys restructured his contract immediately to make it cap friendly for the team.

Kitna is known to be a tremendous mentor for young developing QB's. He helped develop the likes of Matt Hasselbeck & Carson Palmer, which isn't to shabby. Kitna knows his role, he is the #2 QB who exhibits great leadership and character. He will help Romo in that aspect in his game and also help McGee in his development. The added bonus of acquiring Kitna, he knows Roy Williams extremely well, since they played together for a few seasons.

Kitna knows exactly what Roy Williams's strengths & weaknesses are. He knows what routes he runs well and where he likes to catch the ball. This experience will only help both Romo & Williams get on the same page in a shorter period of time than new players take to gel together. Romo, Williams & Kitna all showed up even before the start of OTA's to make this happen.

A small deal like this can make a huge impact on this team. Kitna may never see the field, but he will pay major dividends in the developement of Romo & Williams, along with developing his understudy in McGee. I believed Kitna's impact will be huge for this team on and through the season.
