Player Update: Michael Hamlin, S

Tim McMahon stated that rookie safety Michael Hamlin (Clemson) had the best chance to win a starting spot among the Cowboys' 2009 draft class, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: The club inked Gerald Sensabaugh in the offseason as a stopgap replacement for Roy Williams at strong safety, but Hamlin could push him for the job. Hamlin has good size (6-2, 214 pounds) and excellent ball skills and range to fare well in coverage - an area where Roy Williams was a liability.
