2009 NFL Coaches with Most to Prove

Source: The Peoples Blog

With teams preparing for training camp, some coaches in the NFL have to put up or shutup. Most deserve this kind of treatment, but there are a few who dont, who are in no win situations. So I've compiled a list of the top 5 coaches who need to win this season, whether they deserve the heat or not.

5. Andy Reid - Whoa, what are you doing putting Andy Reid on here, are you crazy? This is where one of the undeservingly coaches come into play. He has a great record of 97-62, 5 NFC East Division titles, and 5 NFC Championship games with 1 SB appearance. But he is just 1-4 in NFC title games, has not always gotten along with superstar Donavon McNabb, and pressure in Philly to get past the NFC title game. I think if he does not make the SB this year, he OR Mcnabb will be gone, mark my words, and the organization would rather Reid be the guy leaving

4. Marvin Lewis - I have come to the conclusion, that if he were coaching anywhere else, he would have been fired. Although there is a 99% chance you would have had a better record with any other team, enless your the Detriot Lions. They have given you more then enough chances, I know you have to deal with a lot of idiots on your team, but just 1 playoff appearance in 6 years does not cut it. I was amazed that the record was not as bad as I had orignally thought, in 6 years the record is 46-49-1, with the last 2 seasons being the only losing seasons. Still, he was known for great defenses at Baltimore, and at Cincinnati they have been below average. The time is now Marvin, I hope you have a good season because you do have to deal with morons on the team, and you are a good guy.

3. Wade Phillips - This guy does not deserve most of the heat he is going to receive this year. He has a diva playing QB, an offensive coordinator who tries to please everyone instead of trying to win games, and an owner with an ego only slightly smaller then their former WR who now plays in Buffalo. This guy does deserve some heat because he does have the talent, and he needs to show the team that he is the man in charge, and they will play as a team instead of individuals. Although he is often known for his former defenses, defense in Dallas have taken a backseat. I dont care how many sacks this team gets, they get burnt to many times are extremely undisciplined. They have the talent, it's up to Wade to control his team, and undeservingly put up with Jerry Jones and the Tony Romo and Roy Williams drama.

2. Eric Mangini - This is all brought on by himself. This guy is so cocky, he thinks he is a genius, which has earned him the hilarious nickname "mangenius". Well after ratting out his former head coach Bill Belichik, under performing with the NY Jets and leaving that team a mess after the Brett Favre saga, he takes himself to Cleveland along with his ego and right off the bat gets rid of the best player on the team Kellen Winslow. He also managed to make the best defensive player on the team, Shaun Rogers, very unhappy as well. Way to go Mangini, lets see how you do this year. Remember Cleveland fired Romeo Crennel a year after they made the playoffs, I dont expect you to last the 3 years Romeo did.

1. Josh McDaniels - This guy might be the biggest dummy in the National Football League. Soon after getting your first Head Coaching job, you manage to tick off fan favorite QB Jay Cutler for Matt Cassell. Some people argue that it's his team now and he can get any guy that he wants or feels comfortable with. Well lets look at this, Cassell was surrounded by far superior talent in New England then Cutler was in Denver, Cutler has a stronger arm, and you are disrupting team chemistry by getting rid of your franchise QB. Even after all that is said, yes you can get whatever guy you want, BUT you better make darn sure that you get him, because if you dont, your stuck with a ticked off QB, who know belongs to the Chicago Bears and you've got Kyle Orton now. I'd also like to congratulate McDaniels on getting Correll Buckhalter, Lamont Jordan, and Knowshon Moreno in the offseason. Can we expect a wishbone package? Obviously atleast one of those pickups is going to be a WASTE. Now even after that, your young stud WR wants out, and you've done nothing to prevent this. Now your best WR is a second year man, not to mention you did not even address the horrific defense out there. You better win Joshy, because you brought all of this upon yourself.
