DeSean Jackson: Cowboys Are Scared Of Me
By Scott Crisp
DeSean Jackson is a competitive guy. That, he argues, explains the steady stream of bulletin board material that has been streaming from his mouth and Twitter account since the Iggles were pasted by Dallas 24-0 last week in Arlington.
Of course, there was the "We gonna sting they ass" comment, made on Twitter shortly after the loss; but that, apparently, wasn't enough for Jackson. The receiver went on U-stream Tuesday to continue his windy, grammar-neglectful diatribe (see the video here):
"Mike Jenkins ain't never shut me down, so y'all chill out over there," Jackson said. "Them boys are scared of me. I'm a dual threat on that field. They be having like four people on your boy out there."
That the Cowboys "be having like four people" on him out there may explain the lull in numbers for Jackson in the previous two meetings. The Pro Bowler is averaging just 38 yards a game against Dallas on the year, less than half his season average.
Jackson was markedly less brash in his conference call with the Dallas media Wednesday. Someone asked Jackson why he thought the Cowboys were scared of him. Jackson, after hesitating a moment, replied, "Why do you say that?"
"You said it, you said the Cowboys were afraid of you," answered the writer.
"I'm a very competitive person," said Jackson. "Anybody I play against, I feel that way."
This explanation won't likely take the venom out of the initial comment for the Cowboys, who, according to Clarence E. Hill, Jr. at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, are passing around the video already.
