Measuring up with Broncos

IRVING -- Keyshawn Johnson calls the Chicago Bears the best team in the NFC. He ranks his Cowboys behind the Seattle Seahawks, the New York Giants, the Carolina Panthers, etc.

"We're about sixth," the Cowboys receiver said.

With the 8-2 Denver Broncos coming in on Thursday, the Cowboys (7-3) could make a big move up in the next Keyshawn Johnson Power Poll.

"Denver is playing as well as anybody," Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe said. "This is a chance to see how we stack up."

And playing the Broncos on Thanksgiving Day might be a good omen, win or lose. Merely playing Denver has served as a sign of good things to come for the Cowboys.

The last three times the Cowboys defeated Denver in the regular season, they won the Super Bowl.

And in the eight seasons they've had a regular-season meeting with Denver, the Cowboys have made the playoffs six times, reached the NFC title game five times and won the Super Bowl three times. The Cowboys are 5-4 all-time against Denver, including a 27-10 victory in Super Bowl XII.
So while the Cowboys are abuzz with coach Bill Parcells' high standards, the standard for Cowboys teams has been that when they play the Broncos, good things happen.
