The Dallas Cowboy the defense is going to have to play even better
PFW The Way We Hear It-
The offense has slowed down considerably, averaging only 269.3 total yards and 172 through the air the past three games, including the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Broncos, after averaging 357.8 and 235.4, respectively, through the first eight games of the season. Though the running game has perhaps been the more egregious problem area, the passing game’s recent failures have prevented anything from opening up on the ground. Teams have blitzed the Cowboys heavily recently, and the combination of protection problems and QB Drew Bledsoe’s inability to get rid of the ball quickly or accurately enough have limited the effectiveness, especially on third downs. The decision to send TE Jason Witten out on more passing plays has helped his individual numbers, but the pass blocking has suffered in one-TE sets as a result. It’s becoming more clear as the season goes on and the Cowboys make their run for a playoff spot that the defense is going to have to play even better than it has to bail out an offense that has been failing more often than not of late.
