JJT says this will be Greg Ellis' last season in Dallas
DMN Blog: JJT says this will be Greg Ellis' last season in Dallas
Now you know why Greg Ellis didn't want to play defensive end in the 3-4 for Parcells. Now, you know why he pitched a fit in the off-season. He knew Parcells was going to phase him out as soon as he found someone he deemed better. Chris Canty is now the starter whether Parcells wants to admit it or not and Ellis is not going to be happy with 15 snaps a game.
Ellis is a consummate professional. Enjoy him. This is his last season in Dallas.

I thought Ellis was having a really good season, but Parcells has greatly reduced his role the last couple of weeks. Ellis is basically just a nickel pass rusher now and I can't imagine that is a role he will embrace full-time next year. I think Canty and Spears are clearly going to be the starters next season and Ellis probably makes too much to be a part-time player (due a roster bonus of $500,000 in the off-season and has a $3.35 million cap figure).
