Projected '06 NFL salary cap: $92M-$95M

IRVING -- The NFL Management Council informed the teams at its annual labor seminar Wednesday that the projected salary cap figure for 2006 will be between $92 million-$95 million, up at least $7 million from the 2005 season.
This also could be the final salary cap figure. The collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the NFL and the NFL Players Association expires in March 2008. The final year of the agreement is an uncapped year.
So if the CBA is not extended -- the two sides have been stalemated in negotiations for almost a year -- there would be no salary cap in 2007.
The 2006 salary cap figure represents 64.5 percent of the league’s designated gross revenue. The final cap figure will be determined when the network television contracts are finalized.
The salary cap figure for the 2005 season was $85.5 million.
