OVERALL OPPOSING DEFENSES - Dallas 8th hardest
OPPOSING PASS DEFENSES (Dallas 15th hardest)
OPPOSING RUN DEFENSES - Dallas 5th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES AGAINST #1 WR - Dallas 11th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES AGAINST #2 WR - Dallas 26th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES AGAINST "OTHER WR" - Dallas 25th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES AGAINST TIGHT ENDS (Dallas #1 toughest schedule)
OPPOSING DEFENSES VS. RUNNING BACKS (RECEIVING ONLY) - Dallas 5th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES VS. CARRIES FOR 10+ YARDS - Dallas easiest schedule
OPPOSING DEFENSES RUN STUFF % - Dallas 8th hardest
OVERALL OPPOSING DEFENSES - Dallas 8th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSIVE ADJUSTED SACK RATIO (HOW WELL THEY SACK THE QB) - Dallas 16th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES VS. RUNS TO THE RIGHT (AT RIGHT TACKLE) - Dallas 6th hardest
OPPOSING DEFENSES VS. RUNS UP THE MIDDLE - Dallas hardest schedule
OPPOSING DEFENSES VS. RUNS TO THE LEFT (AT LEFT TACKLE) - Dallas 3rd hardest
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
1. Tough roads ahead for Fasano, Witten, Kosier, Al Johnson, Flozell and the tailbacks. 5th toughest schedule against the run with the toughest defenses at running up the middle and the 3rd toughest on runs to the left. Toughest schedule for our TE's as well.
2. Opposing teams for 2006 struggled heavily against the #2 WR and the "other WR" in 2005.
With the addition of Owens, Glenn could be majorly effective and efficient. I could see him not getting a ton of receptions since we have more people to distribute the ball to, but when he does get a reception, it's projected that he'll do big things with the ball. The same for Crayton. I don't expect a lot of playing time for Crayton with Fasano on board. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas be very effective at taking their TE's and lining them up out wide like a wide receiver. Whether they'll actually do that or not is the question.
3. The major concern for Dallas is keeping Bledsoe upright. Dallas' schedule has an adjusted sack ratio ranking of 16th, smack dab in the middle. We actually have it easier than the Eagles, Giants, and Redskins in this category.
4. Could see more of the same type of runs from Julius. Opposing defenses ranking 8th hardest at stuffing the run, but easiest in giving up carries of 10+ yards. So we could see a lot of "all or nothing" carries from Julius. Might be best if Barber and Julius split carries to keep the team away from the run stuffs while giving the opportunities to hit the home runs.
5. Dallas finished 11th last year in runs up middle (now facing toughest scheduled defenses vs. runs up the middle)......27th on runs to the left side - at left tackle (now facing 3rd hardest schedule)......and were 24th on runs to the right side (now facing 6th hardest schedule). Needless to say, the entire O-Line has their work cut out for them run blocking wise.
FINAL SYNOPSIS
Obviously, the O-Line is the concern for the Cowboys. I think this offense will rely a lot on Owens. He faces a pretty tough schedule (11th best defenses against #1 WR's). If he's effective, he'll just make the already lethal Glenn....who is facing an easy schedule.....even more lethal. That will also open things up for the TE's (facing the toughest schedule) and the running games (facing a very difficult schedule).
Owens has been a big boost to the production of both Jeff Garcia and Donovan McNabb when he was on the field catching passes for them. One particular stat that jumped out was that both Garcia's and McNabb's sacks per passing attempts ratios went down when he was in the lineup vs. when both QB's played without him in the lineup. I don't have the stats on me, but IIRC, the sacks per pass attempts ratio went down nearly 25%.
I could see Owens being double teamed often and not getting the ball, but the offense killing defenses with Glenn and the running game and Bledsoe staying upright. Whether or not Owens will liked being used as a "decoy" of sorts is the million dollar question.
