Parcells Looks Towards Saturday

ROSTER MOVES: The Dallas Cowboys signed wide receiver LaShaun Ward on Wednesday, bringing their current roster to 83 players.
Terms of the contract were undisclosed.
Ward most recently played with the Buffalo Bills before being released in June. He has also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs but has never caught a pass in the NFL.
SEATTLE PREVIEW: Bill Parcells touched briefly on his philosophy for the first preseason game of the year on Saturday.
"I follow kind of a pattern with first game, second game, third game, fourth game," he said. "There are some guys that probably won't play. There are other guys that could play two or three quarters."
While he didn't mention his exact plan at the quarterback position, there is a good possibility that back up Tony Romo will start and see the field for at least two quarters.
"I'm trying to do something at the quarterback position that needs to be done," he said. "I've calculated what I'm doing here. It's not like Bledsoe, he's 34 years old. I don't think he has to play a quarter Saturday night to make sure he's ready for the season."
"I need to find out what this guy (Romo) can do."
Romo, who has yet to throw a pass in a regular season game, has been the No. 2 quarterback since training camp last year.
"This is going to be an opportunity for him to show me what he can do," Parcells said. "I don't want to put him in a situation in Seattle where this is defining moment but I do think he's aware he's going to play extensively."
JERRY SLIDES IN: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones met with the media about 30 minutes after Bill Parcells' press conference ended Thursday. Not surprisingly, he fielded questions about Terrell Owens and the new NFL Commissioner.
In fact, despite asking the media if they had any questions regarding the new commissioner, the first five questions posed to Jones all concerned T.O.
"As you know, I rely heavily on the doctors as far as medical aspects are concerned," he said. "For 17 years, it has become policy of the Dallas Cowboys and the National Football League, that the player has the final say. That's where it is. So I don't have any assessment to the status of Terrell's injury."
QUICK HITS: Parcells is meeting with his coaching staff at 12:15 today to go over personnel decisions for the Seattle game. ... When asked about Terrell Owens' status for Thursday's practice, Parcells said, "I don't know that yet." ... Shaun Suisham and Tyler Fredrickson will handle kickoffs Saturday. ... Parcells said not worry about Terence Newman, who has been held out of practice recently due to a sprained ankle. "He's fine," he said.
NEXT UP: The Cowboys will hit the practice fields in Oxnard at 2 PM Pacific Time Thursday for their last official practice before Saturday's preseason opener at Seattle. The team will also hold a walk through Friday.
COUNTDOWN TO GAMEDAY: The Cowboys have just two more days before their first preseason game of 2006. Dallas travels to Seattle on Aug. 12 for a road game against the Seahawks. The season opener in Jacksonville is now just 31 days away.
