OXNARD, Calif. - Bill Parcells met with the media Wednesday afternoon between practice sessions.
ROSTER MOVES: The Dallas Cowboys signed free agent tight end Erik Jensen, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, on Wednesday. Jensen played his college ball at Iowa and was a member of the Steelers' practice squad last season.
"We signed a guy named Erik Jenson," Parcells said. "He's more of an F-position player. We are going to be looking at a couple of other guys here shortly as soon as we can get them in." Parcells also said that his scouting department is looking at additional receivers.
"I've got the pro guys looking and we are talking with some teams," he said. "I think we are trying to be proactive on it and see which teams could be heavy in that area.
"We are heavy at a spot or two, so maybe we can do some business."
QUICK HITS: Marcus Spears could be back practicing with the team Monday, Parcells said. ... Parcells also said he's giving the team a break this afternoon by working them in shells. "I don't want to say 'break' it's more like a test," he said.
COUNTDOWN TO GAMEDAY: The Cowboys have just three more days before their first preseason game of 2006. Dallas travels to Seattle on Aug. 12 for a road game against the Seahawks. The season opener in Jacksonville is now just 32 days away.
NEXT UP: The Cowboys will practice from 5 PM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time Wednesday evening. The team will hold its final official practice before Saturday's game in Seattle Thursday from 2 to 4:20 PM Pacific.
