OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -- Terrell Owens' hamstring must be feeling a lot better because he is starting to make fun of his time on the sideline.
Owens wore a silver cycling helmet and the silver and blue jersey of the Discovery Channel pro cycling team -- Lance Armstrong's former squad -- while riding a stationary bike Thursday, his eighth day out of action.
"Tour de Oxnard," Owens repeatedly said as he began pedaling, smiling wide the entire time.
Owens cracked himself up with this gag, grinning and giggling from the moment he walked onto the field with a sweatshirt hiding his outfit and the helmet peeking out of a dark towel.
Teammates apparently knew this was coming because several turned to watch his grand unveiling. Owens took his time, taking off his baseball cap then smoothing out the jersey beneath his sweatshirt. Once he pried it off, he plopped on the helmet and a pair of sunglasses.
"Lance Armstrong!" fellow receiver Skyler Green said.
Green walked over to the bike area to watch the show. From the practice field, receiver Patrick Crayton stood watching and running back Julius Jones turned to catch a glimpse. Coach Bill Parcells later looked over from midfield without a reaction.
Owens was certainly the center of attention, with photographers coming over to capture the scene.
It didn't last long, though. Within 15 minutes, Owens was back to wearing his sweatshirt and usual cap.
Owens was on the bike for the 11th straight practice. After pushing himself hard Wednesday, there was a chance he might've rejoined his teammates on the field, but he opted not to push it. There's only a walkthrough Friday, then the preseason opener Saturday night in Seattle, which Owens has already declared he's going to miss.
With an off day Sunday, the soonest he'd return is Monday. Dallas' second preseason game is against the New Orleans Saints in Shreveport, La., on Aug. 21. That Monday night game will be televised by ESPN, perhaps giving Owens the forum he enjoys for his first NFL action since Oct. 30, when he was with Philadelphia.
