Two down: Jacob Rogers and Stephen Peterman from the 2004 draft
RE: Two down
Interesting response from Dan regarding the failings of high-round picks Jacob Rogers and Stephen Peterman from the 2004 draft.
Yes, Rogers and Peterman never worked out - realize that Parcells didn't have the scouting staff he wanted, and had a short preparation time for that draft. The drafts since then have been above-average to great. Seems to me that most people reading this blog tend to take a negative spin on things, when undoubtedly we don't have all the facts.
Couple points: Didn't have the scouting staff he wanted? Jeff Ireland was here but not with his present title. So was Tim Ciscowski, the assistant director of college scouting.
Short preparation time? Not sure what you mean here. Maybe because the Cowboys were coming off the playoffs? This was April 2004, so Parcells had his stamp on how he wanted things done.
