Cowboys great likes team's outlook

At age 53, former Cowboys great Randy White looks as if he can still play. His love for martial arts is a big reason he stays so fit.
White, who recently attended a Cats game, loved baseball growing up. His favorite team was the Philadelphia Phillies. The Hall of Fame defensive tackle went to high school near Wilmington, Del., and had a chance to play for the Phillies organization, but chose football instead.
Like others this time of year, White is optimistic about the Cowboys' chances this season, and he said he thinks they can make a serious run at the NFC East title. He likes their defense, and he would be happy if they go 11-5 or 12-4.
How will the Cowboys do this season?
The key is going to be in their offensive line and how well the offensive line can protect [Drew] Bledsoe. The [opposing] defense is going to try to overload them like they have in the past and get to Bledsoe before he can throw the ball to [Terrell] Owens and some of his other receivers. When they try to run the ball, they stuff him on the line of scrimmage, which is a problem they've had the last couple years. If they can get a back in there that can block or they get a passing offense that allows them to release the ball quicker, it can give Bledsoe enough time to hit a couple of bombs to Owens. Then, that changes everything.
What are your thoughts on the signing of Owens?
He's a heck of an athlete. He's had problems a couple other places he's been. Hopefully, that won't happen here. He's a flamboyant, charismatic player, and I don't think that's going to change. But the thing that hurts a football team is if you get one player criticizing another player publicly. Hopefully, he's learned a lesson from that situation in Philadelphia. I don't think he was all at fault at that, either. It takes two to tango. I believe in giving someone a fresh start.
How long will Bill Parcells coach the Cowboys?
I have no idea. I don't think anybody has any idea. He might not even know. He's just now, this year, getting his type of players in place and his people in place. He's been kind of makeshift moving in and out up until now. This year is his year with his style of defense and his style of offense. We'll see what happens.
What are your thoughts on Rayfield Wright and Troy Aikman being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
I'm happy for those guys. It's a great honor. It's a day they will remember from now on. It was a very humbling experience for me to see all the busts, and you see the Bob Lillys, the Ray Nitschkes and the Dick Butkuses -- the guys you looked up to, and now you're going to be in there with them.
