ESPN: Bottomline
By John Clayton, ESPN.com
For weeks, Bill Parcells has hinted that the Cowboys might be looking for a third receiver. Who figured he would find one in Terrell Owens, who might enter the season as a backup because he's missed so much time recovering from a hamstring injury. Owens' missed time in training camp makes him a stranger to quarterback Drew Bledsoe.
Believe it or not, the Cowboys aren't overly concerned. They know Bledsoe is zoned in on his ability to get the ball to wide receiver Terry Glenn and tight end Jason Witten. That gives Owens the luxury of working into the system slowly, although Owens might not like coming off the bench. Owens better get his hamstring right, or his chances of making it back to the Pro Bowl could be tough if he can't catch 70 or more balls.
Overall, though, the Cowboys are loaded. Their defense is one of the best in football. Parcells has loaded up the 3-4 to be attack-oriented, and it has great speed. This might be his best defense since he presided over the Lawrence Taylor era with the Giants.
