Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the Dallas Cowboys have signed free agent TE Jerome Collins (Rams) to their practice squad.
Jerome Collins
Position: TE
Height: 6-4
Weight: 270
Born: 04/18/1982
College: Notre Dame
NFL Experience: 2
*He used to play both Outside Linebacker and Wide Receiver.
*Rather effective blocker and pass-catcher
*Special Teams warrior
*He has won numerous awards and recognition
2006 scouting report
Has good hands, quickness and athleticism. Lacks strength and technique. Gets overpowered at the line of scrimmage and lacks the ability to sustain blocks. Is trying to make a position switch and still is a ways away from being more than a No. 3 tight end.
Collins made more than 40 tackles, four sacks and six tackles for losses while playing the last four games of 1999 at outside linebacker. He played wide receiver, tight end and linebacker as a junior in 1998, making 31 catches for 702 yards and eight touchdowns. He also averaged 11.6 points and 6.8 rebounds as a senior in basketball and earned all-league honors. Collins ran the second leg on the 1999 state championship 4x100 relay team and had personal bests of 10.9 in the 100 meters and 22.8 in the 200 meters.
