More strong words from Ellis

Players' rep Greg Ellis had some strong words regarding Albert Haynesworth's stomping of Andre Gurode a couple of hours before the league announced the five-game suspension.

"We’ve got a new commissioner in, and that puts a lot on him to take action about it because he’s the new guy in place to handle those things. You take your time to take a guy’s helmet off and then to stomp on him in that manner? Everybody knows it’s totally uncalled for, but it just doesn’t happen. You see fighting. You see someone spit on each other, but when you take off someone’s helmet and kick them, and then the small detail that some people don’t understand ... if we were playing on a turf field with rubber bottoms, Andre’s face would’ve swelled but he wouldn’t have been cut. But on a grass field we play with those screw-in cleats. That stuff hurts. I’m like you could’ve put that man’s eye out. You could have ended his career on a crazy play like that."

At one point, a reporter asked Ellis if he thought Gurode should press charges. About that time, I'm told that quarterback Drew Bledsoe strolled by and said, "Hell [expletive] yeah."

It was a new phrase to me.
