Sheppard expects to play against Cowboys

Lito Sheppard returned to full-scale practice yesterday for the first time in nearly a month.
"It felt good," said Sheppard, whose return to the lineup Sunday against Dallas seems crucial to the team's hopes of containing the Cowboys' celebrated wideouts, Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn. "It felt real good, actually. The guys took me back in. I feel like part of the family."
Sheppard sprained his right ankle three plays into the season opener, Sept. 10 in Houston. His replacement, Rod Hood, suffered a heel injury the next week against the Giants, and the Birds have been patching together cornerback combinatons ever since. Hood left the San Francisco game after aggravating the injury, then sat out Monday's victory over Green Bay. He is listed as doubtful this week and did not practice yesterday.
Sheppard clearly expects to return this week, and the Eagles clearly expect that, as well. Despite listing Sheppard as questionable, they released corner Dustin Fox yesterday and elevated linebacker Dedrick Roper from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Fox' equipment remained in his locker room stall, so it would seem to be a reasonable guess to conclude that Fox will return to the practice squad, where he was playing before he was elevated after Game 2 against the Giants.
"I'm cool," Sheppard said, when asked how confident he was in his healed ankle. "It's just gettin' back in the mix of things, gettin' the wind back where it used to be, basically just gettin' a feel for going through the football motions."
Sheppard said playing against Owens "is going to be fun... all the emphasis put on this game, it's almost going to be like, I guess, a playoff atmosphere, somewhat."
Owens, 6-3, 226, has a significant size advantage over Sheppard, 5-10, 194.
"His size," Sheppard said, when asked what made Owens so tough to cover. "You don't find too many receivers his size who moves like he does."
No one discussed this during the last week, but did you see the pass to TO in the right flat and then he left two guys laying on the field as he moved upfield........I was thinking those guys are going to be abused during the first film session after the game. It was a pretty sight.
