Mosley Blog: Afternoon Report, T. Glenn, Vandy, Romo swollen finger
Romo's finger
Tony Romo's right middle finger is swollen. He said the finger is fine and that he doesn't expect any problems throwing the ball.
Not sure when he hurt the finger, but it might have occurred during the Arizona game. Most of his passes were a little high and Romo said that was because of the coverage he saw and he didn't want to throw an interception.
Maybe it was the finger.
After the game, he had it taped.

Dual spot at outside linebacker
Nobody can replace Greg Ellis at outside linebacker.
Saying that, it seems Bobby Carpenter and Al Coleman will play at outside linebacker in the 3-4 defensive scheme.
Junior Glymph will come in as well with Kevin Burnett playing the nickel.
Burnett, a nice fellow, has been a little tense when asked about his status on the 3-4 scheme.
"No comment," he said.
Burnett said after Sunday's win in Arizona, he expects to play more, and not just on the nickel.
But coach Bill Parcells has Burnett mainly on the nickel. It could change, but I doubt it.

No Mike Vanderjagt
For most of the season, Mike Vanderjagt is around the locker room talking to reporters about a number of subjects.
This week no where to be found.
Oh, we saw Vandy walking toward Bill Parcells office on Wednesday with a navy blue sweatsuit, somebody asked was it a Indianapolis Colts model, and he shook his head no.
But with the Colts coming to town this week, Vandy's former team, it would be nice to get his thoughts.
But if he doesn't want to talk, that's his right. But hey, does this mean Vanderjagt is a little tight? Is Vandy thinking about the game a little too much? Is he nervous?
We'll find out on Sunday.

Terry Glenn should play
Bill Parcells said receiver Terry Glenn is doing fine in practice. Glenn has a kneecap injury that forced him out of Sunday's game at Arizona.
Glenn wanted to play in Arizona, but Parcells kept him home.
A few days off for Glenn has helped the knee recover some and he should be a factor against the Colts.

The Mosley Afternoon Report
But first, a quick program announcement: I will appear on the wildly successful Southwest Kia Sports Talk show on channel 52 at 6:30 p.m. In an effort to boost ratings, the show has asked me to actually show up on time tonight, so look for me at about 6:38. Anyone who calls in and mentions the blog will receive a free "Save Matt Mosley's Blog" T-shirt.
With that out of the way, let's get to the Report. Bill Parcells took a stroll down memory lane today, referring to an old Giants quarterback turned broadcaster. He professed his love for Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney and talked about his team's struggles at free safety.
Parcells compared the Flozell Adams-Freeney matchup to Joe Louis-Billy Conn. In case you weren't around for that bout, Conn was leading the fight on June 18, 1941, when Louis landed to right jabs to his jaw and knocked him out. Which player is Joe Louis? We'll find out Sunday...Sixth-round draft choice Montavious Stanley was back on campus today. He replaces Greg Ellis, who was officially placed on injured reserve yesterday.
Ellis, Canty and Marcus Spears have a tradition of always walking out to practice together. Today, Spears and Canty were preparing to head out to practice when Ellis showed up on crutches...Parcells said wide receiver Terry Glenn looked "pretty good" today in practice...
Parcells said he thinks rookie safety Pat Watkins has regained some of his confidence after being benched earlier in the season. Watkins was in on 26 plays against the Cardinals, but Parcells said he hasn't decided whether he will start in front of Keith Davis..
Parcells said the next step in Marion Barber's development is learning how to "run on the safeties," which means he wants him to run directly toward one of the safeties. When you veer away from the safety, it brings other defenders into the play...
Parcells said teams have been staying away from Roy Williams, and that might partially explain why he's not making many tackles...
Parcells said he's "gotten out the needle" this week in order to motivate Adams. He refused to elaborate on what that meant. He described Freeney as a "high motor" player and said he was a "football-playing dude."...
Parcells said Al Singleton and Bobby Carpenter were about equal as special teams players. He's hesitant to play Carpenter too much on defense because he's coming on strong on special teams. Two of Carpenter's teammates said that he'd made big strides the past two weeks during practice...
Mike Vanderjagt, one of the most quotable kickers in league history, has gone underground this week...One player asked for me to give him a "shoutout" on the blog today, but I try not to do that sort of thing...
ESPN's T.O. reporter, Ed Werder, has stayed away from Valley Ranch this week, but he's planning to make a brief appearance tomorrow...
A usually reliable reporter just informed me that Bill Parcells has never faced a team with a 6-0 record or better, but then someone quickly wrote back that the 1990 Giants played a 10-0 49ers team. Well, that 49ers team had fallen to 10-1 the week before the Giants game in 1990. Oh, and Bill Parcells' 1990 Giants team began the season 10-0...The blog staff is making a brief appearance at Manny's tonight. Stop by and say hello.
