Parcells bus runs over Colombo
Bill Parcells blamed yesterday's blocked field goal on offensive tackle Marc Colombo, saying he simply made a mental error on the play.
"I feel sorry for him," said Parcells, "because he doesn't make many of those."
Parcells said Colombo was supposed to "jab" inside and then out. After watching 50 replays, it's obvious that Colombo never looked outside. He basically ran into the back of Jason Fabini, the man lined up to his right.
Parcells seemed to absolve Jason Witten, who was at the far left side of the line. Witten blocked Carlos Rogers. And when Colombo blocked down, Troy Vincent had a clean shot at the block.
The Redskins' special teams coach said he spotted a weakness in the Cowboys' protection, but Parcells quickly dismissed that notion.
"I bet he did," he deadpanned.
