Bill Parcells says he's just trying to make things work with controversial receiver Terrell Owens.
IRVING _ While Cowboys coach Bill Parcells has been rather reserved with comments about receiver Terrell Owens to the local media, he acknowledged the obvious during a conference call with the Indianapolis media this week.
Asked how life has been with Owens this year, Parcells said "interesting."
When pushed to elaborate, Parcells said the organization decided to bring the player in and it was his job to make it work.
In attempting to do so, Parcells said he has gone out his way to be patient, despite some trying incidents, while avoiding a blow-up confrontation.
"There have been a few little things that, you know, I would say would kind of test that a little bit," Parcells said.
"But, overall, I'm doing my best to try to make it work, and that's what I'm charged with doing. And it'd be easy just to go ahead and have a big blowup confrontation like everybody thinks is coming or will come and just throw the hands up and say, 'Well, I just can't do it.'
"But I'm at a point in time in my career where I really want to do things with the idea and the intent to try to make it work. And it's in everybody's interest if you can, so that's what I've been trying to do.”
Asked if it has been worth it, Parcells said "it's a continuing process, but hopefully things will get better as we go."
