EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Giants might have been stuck in a three-game losing skid, but they didn't give in easily Sunday to the first-place Cowboys.
Plaxico Burress' 5-yard touchdown catch tied the game with 1:06 left at a frigid Giants Stadium. But Tony Romo's 42-yard pass to Jason Witten helped set up a game-winning 46-yard field goal by new kicker Martin Gramatica.
The Cowboys' 23-20 victory gave them a two-game NFC East lead on the Giants (6-6) with four games left in the regular season.
Marion Barber's 7-yard touchdown with 3:33 left - his second of the game - gave the Cowboys a brief 20-13 lead until Burress' touchdown.
After trading field goals with the Cowboys (8-4) in the third quarter, the Giants drove deep into Dallas territory on a 43-yard gain by Brandon Jacobs. But Cowboys cornerback Aaron Glenn nearly picked off Eli Manning on third down inside the Dallas 5, and the Giants had to settle for a game-tying field goal.
Gramatica redeemed himself at the end of the first half. After missing a 44-yard attempt in the first quarter, Gramatica drilled a 41-yarder with one second left to give Dallas a 10-7 halftime lead.
With just over a minute left in the half, the Cowboys' defense stuffed Jacobs on fourth-and-1 at the Dallas 24. Romo then led the offense on an eight-play, 50-yard drive ending in Gramatica's field goal.
Romo threw two interceptions in the first half, though his first pick resulted in a fumble recovery by Cowboys receiver Sam Hurd when Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka dropped the ball during the interception return. Four plays later, Marion Barber tied the game at 7-7 on a 1-yard scoring run.
Romo was picked off again in the second quarter while looking for Terrell Owens downfield.
