DMN Blog: Bum Phillips: Hire my boy!
Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is one of the names getting thrown out a lot to replace Parcells.
Phillips runs the 3-4, has a personality that would mesh well with Jerry's and has head coaching experience (48-39, 0-3 in playoffs). His daddy, ex-Oilers and Saints coach Bum Phillips, doesn't think the Cowboys could make a better hire.
"I think he'd be an outstanding choice," said Bum, reached on his ranch in Goliad, Texas.
Bum said his boy has only interviewed for one head coaching job (Green Bay last year) since winning two of three games as Atlanta's interim coach in 2003.
"I don't understand why," Bum said. "Here's a guy that clearly can be a head coach. He's been successful."
