The next hot NFL coach?

Can "Red Ball" be the Giants' answer to untracking Eli Manning?
Jason Garrett, who was Troy Aikman's backup for seven seasons (1993-99) with the Cowboys, comes with Aikman's strongest endorsement.
"I have great respect and appreciation for what Jason knows as a player and now a coach," said Aikman, when asked about Garrett possibly going to the Giants. "He has been exposed to Norv Turner, Ernie Zampese, Jon Gruden, Sean Payton."
The endorsement is sincere -- a Giants offer, strictly conjectural.
Garrett, in limbo as Miami Dolphins QB coach, is no stranger to New York. He spent four seasons as a backup quarterback for the Giants.
Aikman says Garrett is ready to run an NFL offense, adding, "In fact, I'm on record as saying he will be a head coach in a short period of time."
Sean also rises: Aikman recalls how Saints coach Sean Payton was made a "scapegoat" with the Giants in 2002.
"We're seeing once again what we saw when he was with the Giants, and some of his creativity," Aikman said of the NFL's Coach of the Year. "[Most impressive] is how he has been able to implement an offense using both Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush, and make it work for both guys."
Regarding that "in-between" job Payton held, Aikman said, "With the Cowboys [2003-05], I think it's fair to say that he wasn't allowed to do all the things he wanted to do. Bill [Parcells] has a presence on that team."
