Jones might be willing to make Rivera one of the NFL's highest-paid assistants

The Cowboys reportedly tried to press for Todd Bowles's promotion to defensive coordinator, before Norv Turner dropped Ron Rivera's name.

Jerry Jones might be willing to make Rivera one of the NFL's highest-paid assistants, and the move wouldn't be lateral for Rivera because he's overshadowed defensively by Lovie Smith in Chicago. There will be some scheme changes if Rivera is running Dallas' defense in 2007.
