Football: Cowboys' Coleman, Johnson visit other teams

Two of the Dallas Cowboys’ unrestricted free agents are expected to visit other teams either today or Saturday.

Defensive end Kenyon Coleman, who had four sacks last season, will visit Cleveland and the New York Jets. Center Al Johnson, a second-round pick in 2003 who started 31 of 32 games in 2004-2005 before losing his job to Andre Gurdoe, will visit Tampa Bay.

Former Arizona offensive lineman Leonard Davis is expected to visit the Cowboys this afternoon.

Davis, a Wortham native who starred at Texas and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2001 draft, could take over at right guard if Marco Rivera is unable to play.

Rivera, who turns 35 in April, recently underwent back surgery for the second time in three years.

The Cowboys’ other unrestricted free agents are right tackle Marc Colombo, kicker Martin Gramatica, safety Tony Parish and linebacker Al Singleton.

The Cowboys are negotiating with Colombo’s agent, but the talks don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

The Cowboys have put a $1.3 million tender on receiver Patrick Crayton and $850,000 tenders on defensive backs Nate Jones and Jacques Reeves and linebacker/special teams ace Ryan Fowler.

If another team wants to sign Crayton, it would have to give the Cowboys a second-round pick as compensation. The Cowboys also have the right to match any offer.
