NT Ola Dagunduro, undrafted rookie free agent

Ola Dagunduro, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Nebraska, has signed on to try to fill a role as a reserve NT for the 'Boys in Wade's 34 defense. Being a Nebraska fan I was quite surprised that an NFL team didn't grab Ola in the NFL Draft; most NU fans (and many draft pundits) had Ola going anywhere from the mid-4th to late-6th round.
Ola came to NU in 2005 from the JUCO ranks and filled in admirably at the NT slot after LeKevin Smith & Titus Adams were drafted into the NFL. He was very dusruptive in a reserve role in '05. He followed that up with a good senior campaign in '06 (his only as a starter).
Ola isn't going to be a disruptive force in the backfield at this level but should be more than adequate at stopping the run & plugging gaps in Phillips's defensive scheme. He's a high-character kid who plays with nice motor & solid technique.
His position coach the past two seasons at NU was former Cowboys asst. (and OU lead dog) Big John Blake. JB raved about Ola's work habits and motor over the past couple of years as well as his ability to contribute at the NFL level.
Dagunduro should be able to contribute on running downs as the NT in '07 as he learns the system (he played in a 43 in college) and continues to sculpt his body for the rigors of the NFL. He also offers some versatility as he has been stellar on the kick-blocking unit ~ even blocking one this past Fall.
Ola could eventually develop into a solid contributor for Dallas. I thought I'd offer what little I could at this time, hopefully it has shed some insight into what Ola may bring to the table ~ I think many Cowboys fans will be pleasantly surprised. And congrats to Jerrah & co. for bringing this kid in to compete for a roster spot...
